Building Boom

With the lengthening daylight hours comes a flurry of housing construction. These new units (around 20 by my count) are all going up in my end of town. When I first arrived in Arctic Bay, much of what you see here was just one big open space. No longer.

That's great. I wish it would (could) happen here. This community is sorely in need of more housing! I hope, for the sake of your mental and physical health, they are doing the construction during regular business hours and not round the clock! :)

This is definitely the most construction I've ever seen in such a small community. My afternoon walk up a large hill gave me an interesting view of the growth. It really looks like the little subdivision has doubled in size. It's certainly changed a great deal since I first arrived here 4 years ago. I probably shouldn't say too much as I am technically a Government of Nunavut employee but I know it is greatly needed and appreciated by those many families on the waiting list.

Given the amount of work going on and my proximity to it, I've slept remarkably well at "night", though neighbors a little further down the road may beg to differ.
