For the first time in......well, ever, there was enough snow on the ground at my parents' to allow me to wear my sealskin boots (kamiik) outside. (Predictably, a couple days later, the bulk of the snow was gone.)
I moved to Nunavut in July 2003 to teach high school. After 2 years in Qikiqtarjuaq (Broughton Island), I transferred to Arctic Bay in 2005 and began blogging about my northern experiences in the Spring of 2006. In July 2009, I left Nunavut to begin a new chapter of life in Alberta. I maintain this blog as part of my life-long love affair with all things Arctic.
