When I first arrived in Arctic Bay there was quite a bit of empty space behind my building here. Over the past year, however, many new housing units have sprung up. A great deal of building material came off our last sealift destined to be used to finish off these units. Since returning from the summer I've also noticed piles put in the ground for at least 3 more housing units as well as a new community hall to be built next to the arena down the bottom of the hill from me. In addition, there are plans in the works for a new health centre, not to mention the new airport that is also being constructed on the other side of the bay, about 5 km from town. Boom times indeed.
